    Qld-Vic transfer.What are the dangers?

Your help and advice please on my latest vehicle build idea and in particular any traps or pitfalls I haven't seen.

I am looking into purchasing an unreg vehicle from Qld and bring it down to Vic.

It looks very neat and has had some great work done to it but needs finishing off

It has been unreg for 18 months but according to the seller is very near RWC!

It has a GMC 6.5 Litre V8 fitted that has a QLD Blue plate ( Engineered?)

It also may have had a beefed up 3 speed auto fitted , a rebuilt transfer case and a Salsibury rear end.

It may have had the seats changed to 110 seats and also the seat belt mounts changed on the pillars?

It has air bags fitted to the rear in lieu of coil springs.

It looks like it may have had a lift of some kind also.

    As far as I can see the risks are ;

    1. Does the QLD Blue plate cut it for Vic?
    2. Are calcs required
    3. Cost for Vic engineer to redo
    3.a Insurable and insured value?
    4. Being unreg will it have to go back over Vicroads Pits for rereg.
    5. Exactly waht is required to finish it off
    6. Exactly what is required for RWC
    7. Seat and seat belt changes?
    8. Max 50mm lift for Vic vehicles now?
    9. What other drivline upgrades are required. Axles ,propshafts , unis , rear trailing arms etc.
    10. Rust?
    11. I won't be able to drive it for all the normal checks I would do
    12. Potential for 6.5 l GMC's to overheat if conv not done properly.

    Thanks

    Pete G

A Qld. engineers report is not valid for Vic. Check the Vicroads site for recommended automotive engineers.

One thing you have not mentioned is a REVS check.

If it is encumbered no way will you get it regod in Vic.

Ask me how I know. Well I will tell you. I bought a Jackeroo from a dealer who bought it from an Auction. Now both are required to give clear title but somehow it was encumbered.

The hassle I had to go through to get the title cleared made me think I was the criminal.

6.5l chevs are a POS, gutless, overweight, unreliable pos.
stick with your 4bd1 idea, its much much better.

Mick. Funny you say that. I spoke to a young lady at Vicroads today about what I would have to do to get this reg in Vic. Her advice was just to bring a Vic RWC and make an appointment for inspection and all would be good. I gave her the old QLD reg and she advised as it was reg as a diesel , the conversion was no problem. It did seem a bit simple to me.

Phillip. Didn't think of that one. Thanks

Damien. Must admit , I am enjoying the D Gas Isuzu. Not a rocket but very driveable.

Nope that QLD GMC Rangie idea didn't work out

The fella wanted $ 13000 and while it was a great vehicle etc , etc , I just couldn't justify $ 13k for an 85 rangie with good diesel ? and good auto fitted.

    Time to focus methinks

Stick with the Isuzu County Build up.( Unless an April 1987 Rangie with 4BD1T fitted and engineered comes up for sale soon Not going to happen )

Given that the 110 has D Gas fitted and I haven't given a toss so far about EGT's what harm can fitting my GT28 Turbo do.
