    CRAB bar in Victoria?

Hi, does anyone know of anywhere in Melb, Geelong or anywhere else in Vic that fits the CRAB bar for childs car seats.

I looked up on the RACV website approved fitting stations/garages for child seat restraints in Geelong. They listed one which I visited, all they seemed familar with was the upright bracket that goes on the floor.

They had blank gormless expressions on there faces when I mentioned the CRAB bar. It was blatlantly obvious that they had not fitted or seen a CRAB bar before. So I was not prepared to let them attempt to fit one if they've never done one before!

I do not want to go for the bracket in the floor as (a) they do not lookas sturdy or secure to me (b) they will interfere with anything you are carrying (c) I want to put a drawer system in anyway.

    This is for a 2006 Defender 110.

    Help!!

Is that the one for the Chrysler Voyager?

That is the only one I can find.

I'm after a genuine one for the Defender really Pete, I can make up some sort of

anchor point to do the job myself, but the point is its there to protect my

    childrens safety in the car.

Hence I am want a proper safe legitimate bar installed properly by someone

who knows what they are doing.

That is why when I went to that garage in Geelong they didn't fill me with

    confidence.

    Cheers anyway Pete.

    Ring RACV, or Vic Roads.

Incidentally, the latest 4wd Action has an article about child/baby seat restraints.

Whats the difference in playing with the brakes and or suspension on the car and tightening up a few bolts to fit a child restraint?

Probably not a lot, which is why I don't play around with my brakes or suspension.

I am happy to fit something to the vehicle which is not going to risk the safety of my children or myself, but when it comes to my childrens safety I would rather get it done properly than just save a few bucks.

    Exactly Col

I am getting Subaru seats fitted to the 110 and a RR rear Bench also.

I could probably fit them myself and make a damn good job of it but having it done by some one like Brown Davis and engineer certified means I know that when it counts it will have been done right.

What cost can you put on a life.

    Crab bar for 86 county

Just in regards to child rerstraint anchor points. I have a 86 county which i need to fit anchor points to. I contacted a company in sydney who quoted me $650.00 for a bar fitted which seems a little steep to me. just wondering if other members have one they no longer need or they know of any places in sydney that fit anchour points
