    Dave.
That explains the ticket that's made it's way to the UK and into my post last week. Wish I'd actually looked into what speed cameras in Oz look like, I might then have spotted the one that's got me doing 108km/h on the Bass Highway back in March. Ticket says I'm being done for doing 104km/h in a 100 zone. $150 fine

We had a guy here in Adelaide yesterday who challenged his camera fine, and won because the magistrate believed his story more than the police's.
Here in Vic if you challenge a speeding fine issued by a camera the police prosecutor will 9 times out of ten offer to waive the fine but not the points before the hearing. I heard this on the ABC from the police themselves. If you were speeding you may as well give court a whirl.

Scott, Has the camera been set up for a while or is recently been converted to safety cam? If this a recent safety cam conversion it can take up to 3 months to be tested, validated, calibrated and bench marked before they start issuing fines. However, during this process it can be remotely operated as to test all sensors and flashes. The flash systems have been problematic. Some being to bright or not bright enough this is all part of the testing phase.

    Hi Rob,
It's been there for around 6-9 months IIRC, maybe even a bit longer.

Introduced them here a while ago plenty of cases of them going off randomly for no apparent reason, take note of day time and the speed you were doing and then don't worry about it unless a bill turns up in the mail. Odds on you won't see the bill because there isn't one although admittedly here they are still run by the state so there is some semblance of honesty with sending bills out, they still have nothing to do with safety.
