Hope I'm not doubling up on a prior thread, but tought I'd reference an article on the new National Consumer Laws that are in place RE car purchases...
They seem to move the consumer more teeth - which having been down that path with a dealer and Land Rover Australia, are sorely needed!

Wow I can only wish that the ACL was around at the end of last year. Still that is good news for all the puma owners out there and good news for me if I ever do decide to buy another car from new (which until I read that was going to be a blanket NO)
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Trouble is because of Forums like this one most people know about problems vehicles have so they can't use the law,eg a D4D owner can't use the Lemon Law in regards to the oil consumption issue because it's a well known fault. Pat
well they can I guess because if its a well known fault the manufacturer should sort it...
Unless of course the dealer warns you of oil consumption before you purchase it

I wouldn't think that would actually ring true, unless they could prove that the dealer made you aware of a forum like this or that you were in fact a member of this forum. Particularly is the buyer was moving from another brand to the D4 for the first Land Rover purchase.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
It seems the dealers are not to concerned with the new laws. After testing four impeccably presented vehicles and three of which in my opinion had rather serious problems mechanically.
The dealers were all prepared to offer me a warranty on the vehicles. If I had purchased one of them I reckon I would be fighting til I was blue in the face and just give up.
I went on to purchase a private sale, so while I may touch wood I will save myself the agony of an arguement or two
Buyer beware and do as much research as you can...... read more forums![]()
