spot on there treads after Coolah there is the Olympic H/Way and yes we have travelled that route a few times, though don't go through Albury go Via Shepperton as it is not a freeway (I despise freeways, nothing to look at) the road is good and plenty to see

My sugestion for you to think about about is making it a 3 day trip.
Come down the New England, not as flat as the Newell but a far more scenic drive.
The major towns have some play grounds you should be able to find easily for the rug rats to run wild on.
The look out on top of the range just north of Tamworth was a regular stop for us.
Stay at Dubbo for 2 nights, we just grabed an onsite van with ensuite(great with kids).
On the second day head to Dubbo Zoo for the day.
Day 3 head to our part of the world.
This is 2 days of @ 11hours broken up by a free day, less grissles from kids this way.

Don't forget the Parks observitory as a stop.
But subject to time(read longer trip) The Warrumbungle NP is worth a detour, particulary if your up for a walk.
And if on the Newel you could look at Mount Kaputar too.
Still havn't tried the baths at Moree but they are on a to do list.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful indeed, and probably take up your advise and make it a 3 day trip. Sounds like Dubbo is a place not to just drive past

Flat out with near to no scenery...good towns though, go the Newell

More hilly, pleasant scenery more towns, go the New England

Very Hilly, lots of coastal views with more towns, go the Pacific


Suggest you head into RACQ and get some maps Our last trip to Melb we chose the little known Black Stump Way...a very pleasing drive little to no traffic and the caravan parks along the way were very affordable

That does look like an interesting drive.
Was in Warwick last weekend, so know the road from Brissie to there. Roads are good for the most part.
