The older motor cycle enthusiasts and Rugby League fans amongst the Aulro membership will be saddened to learn that Don Lind (Skinhead) died last Monday from septicaemia following a fall from his 1956 Triumph Tiger 110. Don had owned the bike since new.

A member of the Lind family of New Farm (North Coast Carrying Co., O. Lind & Sons) Don played his entire Rugby League career for Valleys from U15 Juniors. He played senior football from 1955 on to his retirement in the 1960's. Originally a winger he played most of his senior football as a lock and was part of the Valleys back row three who all started their senior careers as wingers as many opposition backs found to their cost.

Don was a deadly tackler and feared by many opposition players. Norths show pony winger, Fonda Metassa aka The Golden Greek, wrote in his autobigraphy that the hardest hits he ever got were from Skinhead. Fonda once threw the ball into the crowd at Oxenham Park, Nundah, when he saw Don coming across in cover and big Bob Gray waiting in front just in case Skinhead missed.

He feared no one and had thoroughly thumped a couple of coppers in his salad days who had tried to arrest him on petty harassment charges. Known for looking for motor cycle police who liked to race in the days before motor cycle two way radios.

His funeral is at Burpengary next Monday.
