My question is...what the hell is the Gold Coast coming to...recently it's making old time Chicago look like kindergarten...where have all these grubs come from?

Some good young lads were killed in Afganistan last week, around the same age most likely. I think this puts things in perspective a little. These men are worth talking about. I can't image losing a child but at least the parents of our lost diggers can be proud of their sons and I'm sure you'll agree, we are all proud of them. For the parents of these lads, well what can you say ?
We've lived in our area for 26 yrs., and have watched a generation of children grow up. The majority of them have turned out to be productive members of society [ with a few hiccups along the way], a hardcore few are part of a frightening sub-culture where drugs rule their lives, they have no respect for anyone, including themselves. I have been thinking long and hard to see if I could find a common thread between these people, and with one or two exceptions, the ones I know have two things in common.
1 Parents split up, usually nastily.
2 Drugs.
A simplistic view, I know, but true none the less. Once the kids start on the slippery slide of drugs, if they don't have a positive role model to deflect them away from the culture, [ one case in mind the divorced husband turned to the drink, the kid had no positive role model.], the drug culture and all that goes with it, becomes their life. Once trapped in this lifestyle[ and trapped they are] they are unemployable. Their self esteem is low, personal hygiene of a low standard, the merry go round of the need for more drugs, no money, thieving begins. We can call them scum, threaten them with violence, jump up and down and rant and rave, but that solves absolutely nothing. Nor does treating them like poor little hard done by kids, they just take advantage of that. What is the answer? I don't know, I just hope some-one smarter than I can find one and is supported by the Government of the day. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
What's the answer......harsher penalties/punishment. Fact is.....this problem is never going to go away......most likely only going to get worse. That's not being a negative nelly but realistic.
So the answer in my book is much harsher punishment for those that commit these sort of crimes. Why on earth was this **** out on bail to start with? Why should we as a community be subject to these sort of folk lurking around (Nerang is probably a 10-15 drive from my place) in our suburbs?
I have and continue to have no sympathy for druggies/losers etc........lots of people have it tough...boo hoo.....choices made out of less than fortunate circumstances rests on the individual. If we accept that this problem isn't going to go away...if we accept that regardless of the bleeding heart civil libertarians nothing is going to change....the answer is to take further steps to protect you and I from these scumbags.
As harsh as it maybe....why is it countries with exceptionally tough laws/ punishments for certain crimes....have such low crimes per capita? It's not like they dont have their own lowlifes, people hard done by etc,

[QUOTE=drivesafe;1503453]Sorry digger I just can’t agree mate.
I live a couple of suburbs away from where this happened and many may remember the problems I and my neighbours went through a while back.
I live in the suburb it happened in, when we moved there 22 yrs ago, our area was actually called something different as were some of the surrounding area's, the some dipstick council nob decided to remove some of the surrounding suburb names and call it all Nerang when Gold Coast shire was amalgamated with our Albert Shire back in the 90's. Just recently, when out enjoying a nice ride on the motorbike I noticed all the Mt Nathan signs (surrounding suburb) have been replaced with Nerang signs also, (easier to spell for the dipsticks in council,no doubt). It's getting to the stage around here, that it's embarrassing to say you live in Nerang. Admittedly there are a few area's that are commonly know as a bit dodgy, but you get that just about anywhere. All of my neighbour and us included have taken to saying we live in our original suburbs name to try and distance ourselves from the stigma all this crap is creating. That said, a lot of the kids in our area are great kids, we have a few oxygen thieves just like any area, but a couple of them have been brought back down to earth when they did the wrong thing. It's a real blight on today's society when trailer trash like this scum, runs away to steal it's "mates" car and then abandons them a second time, with any luck the pain from it's injuries is excruciating and lasts a lifetime so it never forgets what a selfish pathetic coward it is.
Sorry for the rant, but this spate of lunacy around here lately gets me riled when I think how my own area has gone to hell in a hand basket.
Regards Ian
that should do the trick as am sure plenty would not do the minor crimal stuff they do if a flogging was a chance if caught.![]()
