yep I still recall my HJ47 troopy, that long wheel base still did nothing for the rrriiiidddde.

Try the LCOOL...... LandCruisers Owners On Line,not a lot happens there and i think you have to register to get into the forum section,have no idea how i know this, never been there myself

Thanks everyone. Don't have a pic but Ive trawled through Google and there ain't one there that looks like it. When I say box like, I mean box like. It wasn't a one off, Ive seen others driving round Perth.

The long wheel base FJ45 was released in 1963.

I thought all old Landcruiser owners were too embarrassed to bring them out of the garage any more, after they Land Rovers had pulled them out of where they were bogged

I would have thought that one of the best places to start would have been the OVERLANDER magazine forum,as the magazine mainly caters for the touring type crowd,and that is where most Troopies end up.

I had one of them as a company car when I was working in the Simpson in the mid sixties. It was brand new when we left Brisbane. Lets see -

Broke the Windscreen near Mt Isa, on the way from Brisbane, eventually got one in Alice. Long way to drive with no windscreen.
Worst ride I have ever experienced in any vehicle.
Bodywork and seats fell to bits, helped by the ride. Lower tailgate fell off, broke away from hinges. Rear seat folded on every bump, even from new.
Regularly broke wheel studs.
Alternator regulator failed, cooking battery.
Pilot bearing seized - took two days to get the gearbox to part company from the flywheel.
Only vehicle I have had a leaf spring break all leaves on one bump.
Fuel consumption on the highway after a couple of year's wear and tear, 6-8mpg (wear on carburetter apparently)

May have missed a few dramas!
