Anyone here from the Cobargo NSW area??

Hi all. I've been looking at moving "out bush" for ages and I'm nearly in a position to do it.

I've been checking out some places in the Cobargo, Bega, Bermagui area and was wondering if we have any members on here from that area who can shed some light on what life is like in the region. You know stuff like what are the schools like, community, general feel of the area and that kind of thing?

Any comments, thought's or whatever welcome.
    Cheers

    Mick

Sorry Redback, D110V8D only just noticed the post, Cobargo is an hour or so's drive South of here (Moruya), probably closer to Bega than here.
Cobargo is situated inland from the sea (like Bega) and therefore much colder/hotter than Moruya which is nearer the coast, a small community with no major shops or services, largely unspoilt with plenty of Ye Olde buildings still in place. Not sure but main industry would be agriculture and forestry, situated in a valley with steep hills/mountains all round, would be poorly ventilated, esp during Winter, nearest shopping town would be Narooma or Bega.
Further South of Bega are the Touristy towns of Merimbula and Pambula (Mexican's (Vic's.) Gold Coast), has become very expensive to buy land down there. North of Cobargo you have Wallaga Lake ( Aboriginal Reserve) and Bermagui, then Narooma, Bodalla, Tuross Heads, then Moruya and Moruya Heads. Moruya is the centre of Eurobodalla Shire, (I think Cobargo is in Bega Shire). Weatherwise, Tuross Heads North to Batemans Bay is the pick, being right on the water the temps are 10 degrees warmer in Winter and the same 10 degrees cooler in Summer. The mountain Fire trails are within minutes drive from all of the towns in this area and some of the best in Australia, Bendethra is also close by. I would suggest getting onto Eurobodalla Councils web-site and Bega Councils web-site, you find a heap of pics and info on all of these areas. Overall a great area to live and raise a family(except B/B and other touristy areas) and best of all some very keen Land Rover owners nearby, best of luck, Regards Frank.
