Electricians - Weidmuller Steinel Combi Check
Weidmuller | Test and Measurement | Electrical Test | Voltage Indicators | Voltage Level Indicators |COMBICHECK 1.3
I have an ancient one of these. Use it only to check continuity of my crap arse soldering jobs
Can't see the practicality of one beyond that, and over a multimeter (given that it doesnt give an exact reading).
It's termed a "Masterline Voltage Tester". What are they designed to be used for? Are they something electricians actually carry/use.
It's said to be contactless on the link but mine certainly isnt.

I believe they are only used to save your $50 pliers, they are very much a general guide to whether a circuit is live or not, similar but probably more advanced than a voltage finger, although won't sense voltage through insualtion. Some electrical workers are only interested in whether circuits are live or not, probably depends on what electrical field one works in, I myself use a fluke multimeter, we are also supplied with adaptors for reading volatges on frequency specific cicuits.

I've had one of these for about 15 years! Never used it
.
Generally I use a multi meter, a 'wiggy' , or a volt stick
