Most people put themselves in these situations, nothing like a good h addiction to get you there, gambling problems are a goodun also, we have a hugely generous welfare system.... To generous....dude i helped out with a lift the other night, mid 60's, had nothing, clawing back contact with his family, making a mends, goes and ruins by pumping the pokies cause he hadn't played in near 11 months and finally had spare cash, who's fault? It's ****ing his! In this country your in the gutter by choice

Have you been in the gutter after going trough family breakdown and domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, mental depresion which in many cases leads to dependency on alcohol and other drugs?
If not and do not have study the social problems of these people just refrain to use the word " most" and if you like use the term some.

I must admit...on the whole I agree with you....but there is a but. And the but is this...........in the animal kingdom......the weak are left to die. In our human kingdom...in many ways similiar to the animal kingdom.....we look after our weak.

I do believe that people have choices and those who end up in these sort of circumstances are there due to the choices that they make. They should be thankful that despite that.....not everyone shares the same thoughts on that like say myself and Matt. They should be thankful for the likes of taking this thread into account...the Chucaro's, DiscoMicks, Newhues etc,

    Regards

Having people in my very close family who suffer mental illness, another molested as a kid/early teens, another born too 2 at the time speed addicts, so would you like to know more of my resume of relativity to the real world? Add half a dozen dead mates ....... I can continue, have you been down the streets scoring heroin? Been with these people? Been to the pokies?

So yea I got a little insight on the repercussions on a few of these things, also the bad choices people make, then the woe is me, help me, look at my token effort to improve......

May I recommend the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness" (spelling is correct) - best thing Will Smith ever did.

The choices that the people make are related to the type of options they have available.
My way is not to pass judgment of people if I do not have the facts right for each individual and even so, are I am going to do better in the same circumstances?
If we all are more compasionate and tolerant and put our efforts to help instead of just condem we will be in a better world.

I've known plenty of people born with silver spoons in their mouths, died with needles in their arms.

Circumstances don't mean much. Like Rovercare said....we all have choices.
    Cheers
