Hi Bob,
I'm considering it....just stuck for how that dialog will go. I had a previous neighbour that had his Sub-Woofer turned up too loud....used to shake my house. "Hey Craig, would you mind turning your sub down, it's shaking my house. **** sorry Kev, no worries, I didn't realise" Problem solved.
However, I'm struggling with how that works with this guy....how could the current neighbour fail to realise that dozens of butts are gonna **** somebody off....and that chucking them by the ton load down a storm drain has got to be bad? How can you be so inconsiderate and ignorrant? I just don't see it running like my previous experience. I have a short fuse when it comes to ignorant people who are disrespectful of my property and neighbourhood....well in truth I am intolerant of ignorant people period!
So no Bob, I haven't found the right words yet. I do know his name though. Also, I imagine most people of that ilk would find the presentation of a 'gift' as inflamatory......it's a natural defence mechanism for idiots doing the wrong thing!
Need to work on the dialog.....another part of me feels no urge to be diplomatic at all....due to how blatant his behaviour is.
I won't be rash though....I grew out of those ways....well most of the time....LOL!!!
Cheers,
Kev.
Yeah I've been pondering all these things, that's why I'm keeping my powder dry for now. You'd think dozens...and I mean dozens of Peter Jackson butts in the one area would be enough to generate some sort of interest.....they recon on QLD buses they have DNA kits to test people accused of spitting. I'll see what my police mates say before I act.
Thanks,
Kev.
Disgraceful and outragious, nasty and down right horrible behaviour that person should be shot, yawn.
I think just a simple"Hey mate...would you mind where you flick your butts etc as they end up on my lawn/blocking up the drains etc. I would really appreciate it". Used the guts of that on differing occasions for neighbourly type issues......some people are just ignorant until it is addressed.
Now if he is half decent...he will apologise and not do it anymore. If he is a ****...then note you will report it,
Regards
Stevo
I havn't read the thread, bar the first post. But have you spoken to him about it? If not try so, in a non-confrontational manner. Don't try to make him feel that's he's done anything wrong, even take over a little but tin tray for him. Often it works. Most people are fairly decent inside.
I recently wrecked a Falcon in my driveway, striped it down for the parts over 3 days. One of my neighbours called the council inspectors on me for it. I don't understand why. If they had just come and talked to me I would of let them know that the shell had already been arranged for pick up on the Tuesday and so it wasn't going to be there for long.
I think this is part of the problem with our society these days. We are too confrontation adverse and avoid speaking to each other, choosing instead to use indirect approaches.
Just set fire to one end of him and dump him down the drain. See how he likes it.
I dare say he is most probably oblivious to fact it irates you. I am a smoker & its a filthy habit but nothing ****s me more than watching smokers flick butts away, as I said filthy habit but why make it worse by littering at the same time? I am in supervisory position in the middle of the desert & am quick to let others know straight out if I catch them flicking butts they will be expected to pick up every visable butt, whether its theirs or not or its only a 4hr drive to the plane & they are assured a window seat (this is all mentioned in my induction). Sad thing is the manager above me quite willing flicks butts wherever he pleases & can't accept that I carry mine all day 'til I find a suitable bin - oh well keep trying to lead by example I 'spose; maybe one one day he'll change his ways or realise he is the odd one out.
This type of irresponsible behaviour really bugs me too. We live on a road three kilometres out of a small Vic country town and about 45 kilometres from the next town. About four times a year I clean up rubbish on the roadside in front of the property 600mts and the neighbour’s opposite also 600mts which is quite dangerous as it is on the crest of a hill and in a 100kph zone. “That’s a full wheelie bin x 4 over twelve months!” I have even had to pick up ‘Mc Chucks’ wrappers and cups and the local one is over 50 clicks away in the opposite direction. The stuff that people throw out their windows never ceases to amaze me, when you think they could hold on to it till they reached town. I even called out to a family who stopped the car when I saw them throwing a box of garbage into a culvert and told them to put it in their own back yard. Their reply..... “Mate take a picture why don’t ya!” By the time I got close enough to try to read the rego they were off. What happened to KEEP AUSTRALIA BEAUTIFUL? Butts/rubbish it’s all the same. Dispose of your rubbish responsibly, OZ is one big neighbourhood.

Until a few months ago we had neighbours across the road like that. The owner of the property wouldn't allow smoking on or in it, so they stood outside til the early hours smoking then flicking their butts in the street which then blew across the road onto our place.
Then they moved to the alley way next to our place and littered that up so I called the council...."What do you expect us to do" a ranger said so I gave up. Bunch of ratepayer paid wasters, mostly failed coppers.
I and the next door neighbour told them to eff off or clean the place up and they went back to standing outside of their rented house.
My security cameras also caught 2 of the smoker boys trying my car doors and entering the carport so I took a video off the security system to the cops but because the glare from the lights made it hard to actually see features they weren't interested.
I told them where they live and gave their descriptions but they couldn't have cared less yet they had an electronic sign on a nearby main road saying "Burglars about, report suspicious activity"!!!!
Thankfully they've moved, the road is now butt free and burglaries have decreased.
Very hard to get any action by councils or police here and in fact a couple of years ago a couple of nutters drove a ute bang into the front of the local 24hour cop shop in the night, set the ute and cop shop on fire and the cops inside had to be alerted by a passerby, by phone, that their station (rest home?) was on fire!!!
So much for being a round the clock service.
And no wonder I've never been able to get them to take any meaningful action against the arsehole that lives right next door....but maybe he'll move as well but I doubt that.
