    D3 Service

    Hi all.

Haven't long owned the D3 and was checking out the sticker on the window and noticed the service interval was 18,000 ks. For a vehicle that has done 205,000ks I thought this was ridiculous.
So I rang Trivetts and they couldn't tell me exactly, so I called Grahame Coopers and Ward informed me of all things D3 including the timing belt should have been replaced at 150,000ks.

I was sure that the previous owner would have completed this, but upon investigation, both Trivetts and the owner informed me, ah, no!

I would have thought they would insist this be performed as they were the servicing agents for all but 1 service for it's entire life.
When I checked with the previous owner, he said he had never been informed this was required?

So my point is, let's say you aren't mechanically minded and you have the vehicle serviced on time, it would come as a bit of a surprise if the engine blew up due to this and nothing had been said?

Anyway, just had the D3 at Grahame Cooper's for a timing belt replacement x 2, engine oil, oil and air filter change.

Rapted with the service, advice and the price, notwithstanding the combined knowledge that they hold and not to mention how they looked after us with coffee and biscuits and a library of 4wd magazines while we waited for the car.

Absolute pleasure to deal with, can't recommend them enough.
    Thanks Coopers!

What engine are we talking about?

The TDV6 has a service interval of 12,000km and the service schedule has replace both cam belts and ancillary belt at 168,000km.

Yeah, does sound a long time but when buying any second hand vehicle the changing of the timing belts would near the top of the list in things that you would chase down, when checking out vehicle history!! When spending the sort of money you need to spend on a decent second hand D3, I think I would be checking it out before buying!!
