    OK,,
    question time!

as all the cars are the same under the skin,,

who makes whats under the skin?
    as in the tube frame.

we hear the commentators say "thats so and so old car"
so there must be only X amount of new ones built each year.

Is it only the dealer teams that can create new cars?
(I really cant see vodaphone waiting around)

I've been out of the loop for years but here's a stab at who makes what.

Dencar used to make most of the Holden roll cages and chassis, but a few of the teams have taken that inhouse now to try and get a slight advantage in torsional rigidity and there is bugger all chassis left anyway.
The Commodore is shortened (the real car is too long for the regs) the body dropped lower over the floor pan, the pan is tubbed for the big wheels/tyres, etc.

Gearbox = Holinger (same box and ratios for both makes) dog engagement, straight cut gears and now sequential change.
    Typical race car 'box.

Rear end = Harrop, using a racing Ford 9" style CWP.
Nothing Ford about the diff anymore, hasn't been for 30 years, but that's still what they are known as.

Hubs all round are Harrop (i think) on both makes.
Rear end is adjustable for castor and toe (CV in hub, even though solid axle)

Most Holden runners use a Harrop inlet manifold, not sure what the Ford boys use.

Brake package is specced too these days, can't recall who supplies it. Alcon ?

Hmm partity, i want that one put in the Webster dictionary.

    partity: evenness of the breasts
Used in sentence...."My wife has partity"

actually think it should be partitty...???

sorry couldnt help myself, and yes slunnie, your typing and grandma are better than mine so none of this pot kettle business

I have been corrected,by someone more qualified than me (older and larger) apparently partity is old man, man boobs

I can't wait to go and actually watch a V8 race when we move to Melbourne later this year, it's something we've only really had coverage of here in the UK for the last couple of years. I used to be an avid BTCC viewer but that's gone stale over the last few years, albeit the races can occasionally be a giggle when a certain J Plato gets riled up. I remember watching him at Oulton Park driving a Renault Sport Spider, the year before he became a touring car driver, was very clear on his level of talent back then. Talking to him in the pits afterwards was comical as well, let's just say he's always been quite opinionated, but in a great way.
