    steering freeplay

    Hi all,
Have had a disco 2 classic for two month. Still sorting out ABS issues and tramlining but a new problem is now a priority. When the wheel is turned full lock, there is a lot of freeplay in the steering wheel [both directions] As the wheel is returned to centre, the freeplay disappears. Had the wife move the steering at the problem spot and looked at things under the bonnet ,the freeplay is definitely in the steering box. Is there any adjustment for this as was with the old series 2's and series 3's.

Yes, but if there is no free play in the straight ahead position, this is not going to help, as the adjustment procedure calls for you to ensure there is no binding in the straight ahead position. The adjuster is the slotted screw on top of the box with a locknut. Best to do it with both front wheels off the ground, or, even better, with the drag link disconnected.
