Clarkie, Wollopit, Ella, Cape York Trip

Hi guys. A few short few posts to give you all a running update on our cape York trip
Left Melb on Friday night. Drove straight thru to newcastle, then 2 hrs sleep. Then straight up to Coffs to pick up my swag off Megs. Thank you so much for your hospitality and a great chat. And of course looking after my swag for a few weeks.
Then a overnight camp at Ilara. Then Sunday got to Bribie island. Staying the day here, then heading north to Rocky on Tues

If you want to follow us on Face book

We got here. But with a few dramas. Nolan crossing is deep and I should have walked it and not taken others advice. Td5 -1 Nolan 1. Sat for 20-30 mins while I was recovered. Depth. Mmmmm deep. Cubby box depth. Lost so much stuff. Hf radio. Inverter laptop. Ect. Plus ecu filled up as did engine. Dried it all out and it's running. But not well. So up at Siesia at the moment lapping it up.

Yeah I should have walked it 1st. Ohh well it runs. For now anyhow. I'd say the insurance will write it off as the gremlins are in it now. Oil in the loom saved it. Ha ha

Don't worry, many get caught, you just have to put it down to experience

Nolans, done it 4 times,no worries, going north must skirt around the right hand side. You were very lucky you are still driveable. Many don't make it.

I still got caught in a shallow creek near the old Jardine crossing, probably the only creek up there i didn't walk through.water was just deep enough to wet all the carpet in the front, had to winch it out.Got crossed up.A lesson learnt. lost a few things in the back as the car was on an angle,a lot of water got in the back.Actually found dead small fish in the back when we cleaned it out.

Have a good return trip, fantastic place,i just gotta find time to get back there.
