By the way. If "100" refers to the wheelbase, then that is a step in the right direction.

That’s it gentle people, the death knell of the true 4x4 is upon us.
There is only one other manufacture making a mass produced, soil axle, front end 4wd. And if I remember correctly the soil axle is an option, not standard.
The end of an era! RIP the true 4wd.

    DC100

How will you use a tree stump and the back of the axe to knock out a bingle?

Can you get the grill off to cook your chops?

Does it have a door to door bottle opener like my old 86" had?

Can you whip the top off on a sunny day?

Will the skid chains fit under the body?

Will your tools be able to sit on the mudgards when you clean the air filter?

Can you drop the seat base cushion under a tree to have your lunch?

Can you have a comfortable nap across the front seat with your feet out the window?

How many roo can you get in the back?

    Can you drop the windscreen?

Can you hose the back out?

    Cheers Arthur

Look on the bright side - our Pumas (and every other original Defender still on the road in 2015 for that matter) just got their re-sale value boosted.

The DC100 concept just confirmed this.

Yeah - but that's also not a good example of an updated original. The FJ Cruiser, like LR's DC100 is only an SUV based loosely on a utilitarian original. The 70 series Land Cruiser is the real current-day owner of the Land Cruiser genes.

Why oh why have Landrover over-thought the problem. Surely the design brief should have been more like - "make this existing (Defender) box fit on this existing (Discovery) chassis". The Defender body is thoroughly un-designed. To make it look like a designer went anywhere near it is to automatically fail.

    And whatever happened to this?...

"Based loosely" is being generous. More accurately, it is styled to look vaguely similar. Neither the design nor the intended market have much in common with the original.
