Where to go Northern England museums ?

    Hi all,
On holiday in England and currently sitting in a hotel in Newcastle. Was intending to go to the Beamish museum (bit like sovereign hill for those who know) but it's pouring with rain.
Anybody got any ideas where I might go for the day ?... Looking for an indoor museum type place. Interested in planes, train, automobiles, and historical stuff. Just thought someone might have some good ideas..

    Thanks

    Darren

    Hi Darren,

    Do you have transport?

You could have a look at the national trust website if historic properties / gardens would be of interest.

    The National Trust

There are a few around Newcastle - Tyne and wear, and lots more if you go further affield.

    cheers
    Pete

You could try going local and put some waterproofs on.

If you stay in when it is wet you will miss out on a lot.
