I drove into (the big smoke of) Cairns tonight, and took the family to see "Red Dog" A wonderful Australian movie. Destined to become a classic. Makes me wonder about all the HSE protocols that are present in the mines now.
I wonder if it was actually filmed in Dampier? Anyway, would love to go there for a mining job.
Even if you wait until it comes to the DVD shop, it is a great story.
Cheers,
Ken

yeah it was filmed around here .....what experience of mines do you have as it's ore it's open cast here.
try a c.v. to skilled in Karratha
Loved ita must see. If you haven't seen it, try, I think you will enjoy the movie.
Thanks for that, I have no experience in the mines. Am currently working for an engineering firm that gets power out to new mines. Working in procurement for tendering for Poles, Line, OPGW, Construction of line etc.
Not many mines are hiring 48 y.o. blokes with no mining experience
Cheers,
Ken
Hi All
The Wife and I went and watched the show at the State Theater in North Hobart. The 'State' being more like a club for movie buffs than a cinema, it's small but comfortable.
We settled down, Her with a wine and I had a stubby, loved the show, good story, lots of laughs and the detail was great, even down to the sweaty dirt ring around the crease on the workers necks.
If you understand the Australian way of life, your bound to get something out of watching this movie, also, one of the stars of the show is a series 3 Land Rover.
Goodonya Red Dog.
Cheers Arthur
Hi Ken
What's worse? There are no mines around where I live for a start and I am a couple of months off sixty, with dodgy back and I used to know how to sweep a milking shed out.
So, have a go if you want, as you are younger and don't have to unlearn as much as me.
Good luck and cheers Arthur
One of the best movies I've seen for a while, the scene where they burst into song, classic. And at the end, I wasn't emotional, I had something in my eye .Another Aussie. movie I enjoyed was Bran Nue Day, very funny, set around one of my favorite places, Broome. There's good light in Broome Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Well we'll have to see red dog soon too. One of my favourites is Charlie and Boots! The Aussie way of life and humor was all thru that and I was ROTFLMAO many times!
