Almost all prescription lenses have been plastic for many years. In fact, glass lenses are no longer made in Australia and have to be ordered from Singapore.
Can't see why safety glasses can't be had with prescription lenses.
Anybody else stuck with this?
and was there a change of "safety glasses" standard early this year?
can you get plastic prescription lenses?
anyone got a pair that doesnt make them look like a 7 year old![]()

I have two pair of safety presciption glasses. (one for above ground and one for underground if you are wondering why).

If you are after safety bifocals, these may be worth alook.

I used similar at work for close up work and they were OK
Personally I use the Eyres range. They are the best I have used.
Safety glasses will on be a polycarbonate lens. Glass has been out for years.

They even make prescription inserts to fit inside breathing apparatus face pieces these days. And yes, these are plastic also.

They do and have done so for 10 years plus. I have a set but often dont put them in unless there is a requirement to read small print as they can be a pain to get located and stay in position properly. For Hazmat I do wear them but for fire generally not.
Not sure for BA yet, but you can get whole dive masks to script, only downside is no one else can use them.

I dont wear them either as they are a pain as you say, although they are carried in my turnout jacket. They have only been on issue to us for around the past 3 years.
I hate hazmat, although our roll is "supposedly" only assess and rescue. We do carry all the necessary gear (not gas tight) and have to train with it regularly for familiarity purposes.

My work provides prescription safety glasses and they are Eyres as well, they keep most of the dust out but do fog up occasionally. Im short sighted so need to wear specs most of the time.
I was wearing contacts with normal safety glasses but thought it was better to use the prescription safetys in case I had to wash something out of my eyes. When I'm in the office I wear my normal specs.
