STIHL! Spend the money and then just never worry about it again.

BMKal is the first person I've ever heard speak a bad word about the brand! When I first got my Stihl chainsaw I had trouble starting it as well, but worked out not to follow the instruction manual and just not use the choke. Now I can start it one handed 15ft up a tree.

I haven't had brush cutters but have had a bit with whipper snippers.

I bought a Talon whipper snipper from BigW and it lasted 8 years, no servicing, no parts worked perfectly until the pull chord mechanism that springs the chord back in for another pull started getting dodgy. But even my brother in law who's a die hard stihl man, for his landscaping business was very suprised the $100 Talon lasted so long.

When I went to replace it, only a month ago, Stihl had a sale on and I got a petrol stihl for $250 and it great. The el-cheapo's are still $150+ in stores so I thought the $250 for the stihl was a good buy.

It does have a knack to starting it, but once you know that, it works perfect.

I liked the idea of a battery powered one but I have a rather large block so went for the semi commercial petrol one.

And another thing... I bought my dad a 2nd stihl chain saw for fathers day 10 years ago and he reckons it's the best present he over got. The chainsaw would have to be 10-15 years old but was reconditioned by stihl in Port Macquarie and I bought it from them, and it goes a treat.

    Although Stihl is a ripoff here , I buy this brand for chainsaw ( 460 & 180 )
and hedge trimmer ( 86 ). The 460 is really something.
I went with a Honda for line trimmer ; much quieter
