has anyone else noticed the cost of insurance going through the roof.
I rang the insurance company and was told its due to queensland floods, victoria fires, western australian fires, nsw fires and storms. Im already paying tbe flood levy out of my pay every week. Where does it end? At least the price of bananna's is coming down.
And thanks for this forum my night shift goes so much quicker now.

Insurance going through the roof is right, received my home+contents+ vehicle renewal last week, up almost 28% on last year. when queried was told increase due to Christchurch earthquakes, Queensland cyclone, and the fires as mentioned above.

I was recently rear ended, my insurance comp Shannons said get a quote and if I'm happy to use that repairer, then that's ok by them. They said the will advise the repairer to book it in for repairs and for me not to worry, they will recover the costs from the other party either from him or his insurance. I did not need to chase the costs, surely if you contact your insurance they should be responsible to chase the other party.

Just take it to your preferred repairer, get them to repair it and then get them to chase the insurance company for the money.

I have done this 3 times with 2 different cars and it is pain free.

They rarely want to get on the wrong side of the repairers or they will just say XXXXXX insurance.....No don't thinks so mate, go some where else and most of the time seems they all talk to each other and it gets around that this or that insurer are painful to deal with so there are areas where unless the money is there up front (or the claim has been approved) they won't touch the car.

They will pay the repairer but you should not need to chase your insurer for someone elses claim.

Their assessor needs a kick in the proverbial for not just dealing with you or the repairer, he didn't need to even know if you had insurance unless there was some question as to whom is at fault and if the other car hit the back of yours, unless you were reversing at the time they are in the wrong no question or arguement.

Get onto the ombudsman re your insurer and ask if you can be compensated for your time wasted and interest on the moneys they held for the time they had it seems they were never interested in helping you get your car repaired.

I have threatened 2 telephone service providers in the past that if they did not stop wasting my time I would charge them my going rate on invoice for the time wasted from the start of the issue and it is amazing how quickly issues can be sorted.

All you need is an ABN and word and write them a tax invoice, go onto their website and find accounts and either fax it to them or email it.

I doubt they will ever pay you but it's worth a try, some times they throw money at people to make them go away and it may pay for some better insurance.

By the way, Allianz has been good to me, I have both landies and the business through them and the last claim I had was my fault where I wrote off the car I hit and I never had a problem with the claim.

My policy is now a couple of hundred more this year though I suppose next time I should brake a bit earlier

    Cheers Casper

The thing is Zurich have no problem with the payment, it's the vehicle assessor who insisted that it couldn't go to a Land Rover repairer but one he chose, when it's not their policy.

Anyway had a few calls from our insurance today and going by the calls looks like theres going to be some headhunting between sales and claims.
Got the quote back from the repairer and total cost $4600......funny how I had to get the part numbers for them from my contacts in the UK....and they are a Land Rover dealer.
So how on earth was old mates, mate going to fix our vehicle with no part numbers
Yeah I know the answer to that one....dodgy!!!!!!

A solicitors letter with a promised court appearance [plus costs] to him might be the go.
Exactly. hit the nail on the head (or the deefer in the rear)!

Even if you had no insurance whatsoever, the other driver is still to blame, regardless of who they are insured with. Your insurance should/could assist IF you have issues getting the money out of the other driver, however assuming you had bomb insurance or no insurance and are rear ended, you are still covered by the other drivers policy, if they have no insurance then it is a court issue. It shouldn't ever end up in court if they are insured, unless they are drunk when the accident happens in which case their insurance is invalid and you have to take them to court.
