Camping near Pooncarie
At the end of October I will be travelling from Canopus in the Danggali Conservation Park in South Australia, across the border into the Tarawi Nature Reserve then across the anabranches of the Darling River to Pooncarie. Last time I was there was more than 40 years ago. Has anyone been to Pooncarie more recently and can recommend where to camp. If it was just me then I would toss down the swag anywhere but there will be 8 of us in 5 vehicles.
Cheers

We visited Pooncarie about 3 years ago.
There was a camping ground on the edge of town near the river.
There is no fuel available in town either.
Can I sugest you travel a little further and visit Mungo NP.
Hot showers at the information centre about 2Km from the main camp ground.

Thought about Mungo but that would add another couple of hours on an already long day. Also in the wrong direction as we are heading via Ivanhoe the next day. My net searching suggests PADDA Park at Pooncarie will fit the bill nicely.
