From my experience get some anti biotics into ya, i had golden staff in my nuts and it wasnt in the least pleasant - took a whole month to clear up:(.

Only repercussion I know of is if you don't go back for your counts, a friend didn't do this and 11 years later started popping them out again, result, more kids, so do as required, Cheers.

I had a count about a month after. Then they said it was all ok, should we go back for regular checks (5 yearly for instance) or one is it?

Depends on how good your doctor is at tying knots. Was he in the scouts as a youngster?:)
