I dont know if the advertising is different nationally but up here in Mackay 7Mate are advertising the hi-clone during the big race,
offering up to 23% better fuel economy and 15% power increase.......so if I fit one to the D2 my td5 will produce over 100kw and my fuel will go down to about 7.5lts/100km......oh yeah?
seriously, has anyone on this forum fitted one and got any where those results....if so, I'll fit one myself.
This is a big national advertisement on big broadcast area, surely they must be able to put their money where their mouth is.....
Don't waste your money
Save your dosh... BTW Your TD5 stock already makes over 100kw![]()
the promoters may have achieved their claims on one clapped out carburetted vehicle and you don't know how they set it up prior to the "test" so as to get the absolute best result...
They then advertise on the basis of these questionable results to imply every vehicle will benefit...TV stations will push anything for a $$$$
I suspect there's possible cause under the Australian Consumer legislation for misrepresentation...
Save your money!
The Hiclone concept is that it cause a vortex of incoming air.
Now if you look at say a D1 V8 and remove the plenum, you will find it has 8 trumpets of varying length, so what happens to the so call Hiclone vortex when the incoming air hits these trumpet throats, I'm pretty sure that the "swirling" air will find quite an obstacle and start to break up.
I's the same with that "Turbo charger " they are flogging on EBay, the thing that looks like a pc cooling fan. Praying on the the dumb.
An the so called vortex mixing with the fuel atomizing it for better combustion, the fuel injectors are on of the last things in the system, so the vortex would have run out of grunt by the time it mixed with the fuel.
so, apparently, no-one on this forum has fitted one , or no-one is game enough to admit they have......or.......all our forum members are astute enough to recognise **** when they see it
some cars definatly improve with the hiclone.about the same that get improvements fittinglong intakes with pod filters or high pressure snorkles.
serviced lots of toyota over the years with these fitted--but i think that said more about toyota.the big improver at more than 10% was the jeep 6 cyl.
also i stuck early on improvement on cars like the VN comodore--vn had a intake issue "fixed" on later cars.
but a 23% fuel improvement.
O'k O'k I'll put my hand up. Fitted one to my Lada Niva many years ago. Made no difference ??? Except an increase in idle speed. Anything was worth a try on a Lada
Gary
bless you Gary.....I accept your confession.......now who else is going to 'fess up?
