    urgent help - disco1 alarm

    my disco 1 wouldnt open with the remote so I unlocked it with the key and now the bloody alarm keeps going off and it wont start. How do I disable the alarm until I sort my remote out.

    I can help if it's a one button alarm - under the glovebox, unplug the alarm harness and, using a wire a little bit thinner than a paperclip, jump the last two positions on the plug. ( # 5 & 6). You'll lose central locking but the engine will start.

    Two button alarm - search through the threads for 'alarm spider'. Once you find it, you can bypass it but you'll need to look at the wiring diagram.

    Sometimes mine won't open with remote. I go very close to the passenger side A pillar and it usually works. The antenna for the remote is located here.

    Thanks guys, had a frantic call to JC and got the scream shutup which allowed a bit of think time. Apart from not working, every time I went near the car it seamed to want to sream at me, did manage to shut up long enough to talk to justin, then manage to disconnect the siren without more screams. Ended up pushing the tang down on the battery so my thoughts at this point is it was a poor contact but will also replace the battery asap.
