We were broken into this morning

Got a phone call from the police around 8am this morning. Someone had reported that the front door to our business had been smashed in and a person was seen running from the premises, getting into a white holden commodore .... the nice person even got the cars rego number !

Raced out to the shop ... nothing missing, all machinery where it should be, all desk drawers, filing cabinets and shelves had been riffeled, and about $30-40 of loose change taken from the till (always left open or they destroy the till to open it). Looking for a quick cash & grab.

Forensics came, got fingerprints ... and now the police just need to track down the car ... hopefully not stolen.

    Dumb ****s ... $30-40 of pocket change ??

So small change & a door glass ... we got off lightly.

.... now home for some breakfast.

Thanks everyone. I headed out there this morning expecting to find all the Honda machines gone ... not a good thing this close to Xmas. Luckily it was quick cash they wanted. Not one item of floor stock missing

All cleaned up, glass replaced, and back to normal tommorrow morning.

This sort of thing is rampant up here over December/January with both business and home premises ... and car break ins, due to the massive influx of tourists for Xmas and the school holiday period (25,000 permanent residents and it swells to 120,000+ over the Xmas/January holiday period).

Yes Ian, even if they do catch them, the punishment is no incentive to stop. They probably do many of these and only ever get caught occaisionaly ... and if they are minors ...

Our second store was broken into about 1.5yrs ago ... smashed the front window and grabbed 2x Jonsered chainsaws & a Honda linetrimmer & blower ... the glass cost more than the stolen stock. That store is inside a secure locked up complex ... it doesn't stop them. This mornings break-in was at 6.40am ... in a business complex that has plenty of traffic and live in business premises ... not like it's a quiet back street.

4x break-ins across 2x stores in 32years ... the losses & glass replacement are WAY less than the insurance paid. Makes you wonder sometimes ....
