    Unhappy Anyone help out here

Unfortunately the gearbox in my 1994 Discovery has decided it was time to retire. The rest of the vehicle is in reasonable condition, but due to circumstances I am unable to get gearbox repaired.

Can anyone out there give me some assistance regarding the best way to go about disposing of. Bodywork, motor etc is worth a lot more that I would get from a wreckers.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that it has to go, but if you're going to part it out, you could start by placing some ads here in the markets section. There are also plenty of people keep an eye out on Flea Bay.

You should be able to get rid of the engine and a few other bits that way, then get what you can for the body at the metal recyclers.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

There's a reasonably priced gearbox on ebay at the moment if you wanted to go that way.

Most likely the mainshaft splines are worn. Replacing the mainshaft with a new one and the old gear with a cross-drilled one will be required. Not too complicated (from what I learned, but I have to admit I entrusted the job to a workshop when it happened to me). So your truck could be a worthy project for someone handy, would be a shame to wreck it or salvage it for spares.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

I have a r380 which was working perfectly when removed from the vehicle ( I am only keeping it as a spare) which you could have at a reasonable price if that would help you out. Where are you and what is the engine in your car?

I'm looking after a couple of manuals under the house for a mate who might offload one for a good price. I'll contact him and see whats what to see if we can keep you on the road. Details for location is good so we can look at how we can get it to you via the grapevine etc to save some costs.
