    just hotwire it.

go from the red ring on the dash to the fuses (use a fused line) when the dash lights come up thats igntion, to get it to start you have 2 choices bump start it OR run a wire from the starter signal wired in and just touch it to the red socket to get it to crank.

    Done.

    Cheers, Mick.

I tried all my keys (none of my others have door locks!) and then started on every other keys I have... for anything.. I now have it turning...using a key from a suitcase lock (its a piddly little key but I was desperate! )

Yep hes a petrol... (its the one in the "car with personality" thread!) I have that exact 'dodgy' in line now..with a starter button (that he had already in use screwed on the dash!!) My yellow wires/pull switch are in situ in the photos) Drove it 300k and the coil was boiling hot so I reckon it died)

So I have it turning over now but (even with new coil) no spark now working thru the rest, I am not mechanical and even less electrical so I need to work thru it and find where it isnt doing what it should... step at a time..
(I do have the crank handle though!)

Otherwise try a simple lock pick made from some stiff wire with a bend at the end, they only have 4 or 5 plates in the lock and are probably worn so can be easilly manipulated. the one I just pulled out took about 10 seconds to pop each plate and then it can be turned with a flat object. As a temporary fix this should be the quickest option.
Thanks for that, it is the non steering lock so will keep that in mind !!
