Seeing that UK salt their roads, then there is a very good chance that these vehicles are seriously rusted structuraly but, still a waste

Obviuosly you would not do that with a valuable car or a car in good nick, they must be a dime a dozen over there an all rusty underneath from salt.
I drove in a couple of demolition derbies when I was a whippersnapper. will try to find the pics. One was a rusted out FB holden that I paper mached over the doors & looked the goods & another was a VJ Valiant that a tree fell on, Roof was raised again with a drott. One of the other cars was a ford single spinner w flathead V8, would be worth a few $$ now

I found the photos, This Proves the Poms are not the only ones who are Mental !!

Heres the FB on the trailer, thats my first Landy near the shed

Thanks, I love those vintage Aussie pics.

Some of the jags, rollers etc may be rusted, but the 49 Bentley and xk150 look fine to me.

I suppose we used to enter monaros and falcon coupes in the derbys.

The alloy bodywork doesn't stand up well.

Many years ago I used Zephyr motors in an open wheel speedway car. We found a M111 Zephyr at the local tip. Was in perfect condition that was before the SES had got to it . Bloody cried when I saw itStripped out all the bits we could. What a waste tho.

    ...a sign of bad taste.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

I did a little googleing on the 49 bentley and xk150.

The bently was a bare shell on a landrover chassis with a v8 running 4wd. Still a waste. Since there were only 6 built.

The xk150 was given to a scrap dealer as a shell, and told to have it destroyed. The dealer then cut the roof off in front of the owner, took it home and built the car as seen in the pic. After the photo was taken with the back squashed in, the dealer had a change of heart and then sold it on. It has since been purcaced by an enthusiast and is undergoing a restoration.

The reason I put up this post in the first place, is I am looking at competing on march 10th, and I have been offered a 90s jag sovereign for a couple of hundred dollars from a scrap dealer. Anyone know where I can sell some of the unused jag parts that I have to strip off? I can't see much wrong with the car apart from some tatty seats and a rust hole in the a pillar. Everything seems to work.

Sadly they arent dime a dozen as the weather or road salt has taken care of most of the classics, even 5-10 yo cars rust out from the grit.
