    Defending an island...

    People of AULRO...

I am a proud Englishman and most recently I am a proud Australian too...got my passport on Wednesday - WOOHOO!. However....

I don't want to go into the politics or the story behind it....but I found this picture and thought to myself "Wait till the guys at AULRO see this!".

The flag is mightier than the Penn | The Sun |Features

    ENJOY.

Thoughts and opinions welcome. But seriously....it's like "The Greatest Defender Show on Earth".

    Love it.

Looks like they like their landies
On a serious note Its like the timor independence its up to the islanders and at this stage and for the forseeable future I think they want to be brit.

It never ceases to amaze me why people who play pretend for a living think they can tell people what they should do

Oh hilairious, never knew what this was about.

    - Argentina has no legitimate claim on the islands. If anyone wanted to make a claim it was the Spanish as they found it, claimed it and never did anything with it. Argentina isn't spain by proxy

    - as for Mr Penn's colonist comment, i realise that the norm is of late to be sorry for stuff done 100's of years ago but if you look at the former UK colonies they are mostly successful due to the implementation of judicial systems and infrastructure. The US likes to bleat it has never been a colonial power but they move in and never leave, Guam, Cuba, Okinawa, Wake island, etc etc.

I completely agree with the quote above and also completely think they live in la la land and should not be allowed to make comment on anything more serious than the smell of toe jam

What a **** Sean Penn he has just sunk to a new level in my opinion is this regard, I am sure he is concerned what I think lol.
Its not the first time Americans have had an opinion that was way off.
Seeing people being rescued from the burning Sir Gallahad all burnt up etc as a kid is an image I wouldn't want to be repeated in my lifetime, but I do believe that The Falklands belong to the inhabitants and they want to be recognised as British fair enough I reckon.
Congrats on the Citizenship, funny enough to relate I actually picked up my passport recently my bad took citizenship a few years back, a lot better deal than buying a pommy one, I cant revoke British Citizenship but I can choose not to have the passport and i like my new passport clearly says nationality AUSTRALIAN must mean its got nothing to do with how you speak after all!!!!

They obviously want to stand up and be counted showing how strong they feel about it! The amount of Flags and Brittish cars says it all.

And...it looks like wide wheels on Land Rovers are all the go up that way!

    Cheers, Mick.

Being a kid in the UK during the war I thought the UK was very soft on Argentina at the time. I would have supported the bombing and total shutdown of all their navy ports and any airport used in support of the war.

Falklands want's to stay part of the United Kingdom so that settles it for me.

Sean Penn does not know what it is about beyond grabbing headlines for himeself.

If the islanders want to stay British, then that's what should happen, I reckon, as others have said.

Mick 88 the ground is soft peat up there so I guess that those tyres would give you a better purchase, but I think buying a used armoured personnel carrier my in fact be better especially seeing how the argies left a few tonne of anti personnel mines about the place
