    Insurance for modified import?

I am trying to set up insurance for my Land Rover 90 (pre defender). It is 1984 build year, brough over to Aus as personal import.
    Converted from 2.5NA diesel to 3.9EFI V8
Canvas roof, respray, retrimmed and complianced 3 seater. Just added lockers and a few other bits.

I am getting a quote of Just Car at the moment and they have now asked me for pictures of the body/paint, interior and engine to help them determin an agreed value.

Can anyone point me in the direction other insurers that are good for a modified import that was never sold in Australia? The few i have spoken to have just told me if the model isnt in their system they cant do anything.

Tried Lumleys ? Or Shannons ?

Shannons will no doubt give quite a high quote, based on the ones I got from them but they will at least insure oddball cars. A V8 90 isn't exactly a complete oddity over here from what I've seen.

I use Australian 4wd insurance through DGA brokers. Everything is declared. its an import, and a commercial so not avaialble here. no drama. covered everywhere, including, and its written in the policy, 'making my own tracks'

Thanks for that, I have gone to them for a quote now also. Ball park, how much are you paying, if you dont mind me asking? Is that agreed value (i guess it has to be as there isnt really a market value to look up)?

I have been slack not sorting it before now.

On my last defender, i called up to get house insurance and, whilst on the line got a quote for fully comp car insurance, agreed value. Decided I would try a few other places for a price but they gave me a 30 day cover note and if i didnt do anything, it would expire.
Anyway, 6 days later I did this:

They wrote the old girl off and I got paid out in full! Safe to say i went out and bought a lotto ticket that weekend, unfortunately i think i had already used up all of my luck!

I can't remember what its insured for value wise without looking, but the premium is around $1100 from memory.

Mine's with Lumley Specialist Vehicles. Agreed value, import, all extras listed, covered for any road / legal track in australia.

Shannons wouldn't touch mine with the proverbial barge pole

Shannons did insure my old cars but not the house. Why? We are on more than 5 acres.
