A Porta Power if you can get it in behind would probably do a better job, or if you have a hydraulic jack that will work on it's side, be careful of your surrounds with heat, a pic would be helpful, regards Frank.
Guys,
A week or so ago I reversed into a tree that jumped out in front of me!
No damage to the car, but the Kaymar carrier took exception to me using it as a bull-bar and decided to bend a little!
So, now I have a kaymar with a 6inch long bit of 5-6mm steel plate that is a bit bent, meaning its quite difficult to lock it in the closed position.
If I can get the steel warmed up a tad Im sure it will bend back to its original, straight position!
Im based in North Sydney so is anyone close that has gas bottles to persuade the kaymar to revert to its original shape?
Thx
Jon

A cold bend will suffice. Can you secure it to a solid anchor and excert the opposite force that damaged it? Unless you can get a jack/porta power in the exactly correct point, you can/will twist the material.

My bottles are out near Camden outer south west Sydney but will meet you out there if that will help. Otherwise call Carl Henderson at Green Light Car Care Thornleigh, he's a Defender owner himself and if he cant straighten it out he'd have other workshops nearby who would.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Thanks guys, my first thought was to cold bend, but I can get the leverage and anchoring I need.
Thanks for the offers of help and suggestions.
I'll have a look on the map as to where people are cos my geography of outer Sydney still isn't what it should be!!
I have attached a couple of pictures.
The square tube shoul run parallel to the cross member. The vertical plate is the bit that's bent. It needs a good 1/4 inch of twist taking out of it.
Thx
Jon

Could do with a touch of rust converter and a lick of paint too Jon.![]()

It wasn't that rusty before the tree hit it, then I made it worse hanging on the grips trying to Ben it back!Originally Posted by V8Ian

If the Hornsby area is not too far away and we can arrange a suitable time Jon, we should be able to something about it. Give me a call if you wish to discuss options.
