unusual, @ slightly sad victim of the rain

Heard a loud crashing sound the other night, close to the house, half asleep, put in motion the anti-intruder routine, grabbed large wooden nulla, tripped over said device, incurred the wrath of S.W.M.B.O. , decided any would be intruder would be as frightened as I was on hearing this, grabbed torch strategically placed for such an emergency [ memo to self- new battery for torch], waited appropiate time for intruder to decamp [ billy, not silly] sneaked out, and almost cried , the Thai. red pawpaw tree I had been nurturing for most of the year had fallen over!

In the morning, I could see why. The tree could not keep itself upright because the ground was so wet, and also because there were 65 ! green pawpaws on the tree. Got on the internet, found recipe for " green pawpaw chutney", I'm going to be busy for a while It will go well with my lime pickle, looks like some Indian meals coming soon, Bob

    Bob,
you may be able to save her.
    Find somewhere less damp.
Cut her just below the head.
Dig her in and plonk an empty tin can on the cut to stop wzter getting in the sap wood and rotting.
    She might take again.

There should be plenty to go around, just have to get the logistics right [ jars , spices , etc] Have to find an ingredient called asafoeteida powder for the lime pickle, looks like a trip to my favourite Indian spice shop at Virginia is on the cards. Bob
