Thays a big list...
Think theres about 3/4 now in QLD...
When I worked at Leyland Truck and Bus in the 70's, we had a comprehensive network of LR/RR dealers throughout Queensland. There appears to be very few nowadays and I doubt if there are any west of Toowoomba or Townsville.
Here are the locations I remember as having a full dealership, for new sales, service, spare parts.
Brisbane (Leyland T & B Retail), Ipswich, Southport, Nambour, Toowoomba, St. George, Dirranbandi, Stanthorpe, Dalby, Chinchilla, Roma, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Gympie, Maryborough, Murgon, Bundaberg, Biloela, Gladstone, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Winton, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Mt. Isa, Cairns, Atherton.
In Northern NSW were dealerships serviced by Qld. Zone at Murwillumbah, Ballina, Lismore, Casino, Grafton, Glen Innes.
I may have forgotten one or two. Add them if you remember any.
Anyone care to give the current locations of full dealerships?
How about the other states? Anyone with knowledge care to contribute?

As far as I know the only current ones in NSW west of the ranges are Dubbo and Albury.

Check the list attached to this post http://www.aulro.com/afvb/lre-nsw-ge...e-listing.html that I posted at 0943hrs this morning.

I was writing about full dealers only as in dealers appointed by LRA for new sales, warranty, service, spare parts. Not repair garages or sub-dealers.

Confirms what I thought! I do not know for sure, but I would expect towns such as Wagga, Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrandera, Cowra, Parkes and many others would have had dealers forty years ago.
Mind you, it is not just Landrover - even companies such as Holden have far fewer dealers than they used to have. In part it is better communications and roads mean that buyers can go to the larger towns, but also the general impoverishment of rural Australia over the last sixty years has meant fewer and fewer new car buyers as the family farm has become less profitable and affords less flow-on to the towns.
But in the case of Landrover it reflects as well the deliberate move from a seller of utility vehicles to a seller of luxury urban cars. Why have dealers in the country when your target customers live in the wealthier suburbs of the capital cities?

Hi Brian
The list I posted up was an extract from the same document mentioned (and originally posted) by Xtreme. The ** indicates that the company is a full dealer for sales and service/spares.
The spreadsheet also lists the other states, including Qld, if you're in the market for a new defender.

No, Diana, definitely not. Last thing I need is a new overpriced, over complicated electronic car. My County-Isuzu will see me out.
I was just wondering how many dealers there are now. I know there are very few in Qld, whereas we had them everywhere in the 70's. Remote villages like Quilpie, Dirranbandi, and Thargomindah had full dealerships. We would have appointed a few more if there were suitable operations to be found (and sacked a few if someone better could be found).
