once youve got it up to speed on the flats Drive at all other times or if the TC unlocks in Drive 3rd is best.

With a 2 tonne boat, 3rd would be best and maybe not try to get it over 90 too much as you just suck juice for no reason, just get a ache in your right foot from trying to push a hole through the floor.

Mine hated the camper trailer (450KG) over 80k's as it seemed to create too much drag but didn't mind 4 tonne on a tandum trailer from Wang to Melb occasionally hitting 100ks down hill but yes 3rd mostly will keep you sane.

When i tow i use the manual changer thingy on the auto selector, i hold gears until i need to change or if i want engine breaking and greater control, i always slip it back into drive from third if the torque converter can lock up and when approaching hills i build up as much speed as possible with my foot sitting just above kick-down while the torque converter is still locked then i have momentum, i then leave it till the torque converter unlocks and drop it into 3rd imediately. People are intrigued when i go past them at 130 clicks on the flat and then i look like i'm stopped doing about 50k's on a big hill as they go past me lol.

    Cheers
