Mechanical help near Pt Lincoln S.A.

Hi all. I own a Disco II 2004. I have started a trip from Perth to Cairns and back. The rear drivers door latch has failed, and I am looking for help as I head from Pt Lincoln through Flinders Ranges through to Alice. I have replaced two of these units before (FLH and Rear Cargo), but don't have my full shed in the car. Pt Lincoln Landrover do not have the part. They also did not want to open up the panel (as the door lock has totally failed and the door is locked shut). Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone suggest suport centers along my route. I was hoping to bypass Adelaide, but it may be my last resort.

It's a long shot, but try Peter Jones 4x4 in pt lincoln.
He's a landy nut, and just might be able to help you out (if he's back from ****et)

From memory, he's at the south end of town, near the racetrack.

EDIT - Since the swear filter is all hyperactive, let me rephrase..... (if he's back from THAILAND)!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. In the end I got annoyed enough to give it a go myself. I got the door trim off with surprising few swear words. The fault for anyones interest was the $1.50 plastic clip that holds the release cable into the inside handle. I was able to get a second hand clip from Pt Lincoln Landrover. The acuator is still broke, and will need replacing, but I can now open and close the door, and will hold out until the next Landy agent (Alice is my guess).

have you thought about seeing if you can get the bits sent up to Alice so the parts are there when you arrive so you can fix it there without having to wait?
