    Tyres in Canberra/Queanbeyan

Anyone know of a good tyre place in or around the ACT?

I'm specifically after 255/85 Maxxis Bighorns

    TIA

All I can say is ring around - Pats are normally very competitive but on some brands quite expensive as they are an independent - I went through all this a few weeks back for some BFG MT KM2s and ended up at Jax in Fyshwick - price quotes were all over the place - let your fingers do the talking.

If you can get up to Sydney - you can expect to get tyres 20-30% cheaper at places like Tempe Tyres and St George Tyres but for me the cost of fuel to drive there and back offset the savings.

Pity your timing wasnt better you and maybe a few others could have done a group buy and driven to sydney with all pitching in for fuel and carrying as many sets of tyres+ wheels to be fitted either in sydney or just take the tyres back to canberra for a local to fit
So if you save 20% a set call it $200, not worthwhile for 1 person(6hrs drive + $150 fuel min) but with 2+ it makes more economic sense, and you may be able to negotiate a further discout if your buying for 4 or 5 people or 20 tyres fitted onto the wheels that you put in a trailer or ute to take back to the ACT.

Hmm - not too many people running 315/75R16s so a group buy for people between Sydney and Canberra probably would not have been viable - might have worked for smaller tyres though.

Thanks everyone, has anyone bought these tyres recently?

    (Maxxis Bighorn 255/85R16)

Best price so far is $335 from Bob Jane which sounds about right.

Maybe not but if you ring a shop and say we want 4- 315/75 and 8- 255/85 as well as 8- 285/75 or 235/85 BFG mt and maxi bighorns whats your best price fitted as we are coming to syd with a trailer, most would be happy to do 5 sets in 1 hit.

I had bighorn 255's fitted about 18 months ago nice tyre and wearing well so far back then was $295 each from a local wollongong dealer.
