A Mog would suit my plans perfectly
Has anyone got any news on what's become of the ex-Army Unimog fleet that was supposed to be being sold off/auctioned/sent to some other country/etc.
Before Xmas I spoke to an Army bloke from the Woodside barracks, who I chanced to meet down the street, and he thought the departure from their base was imminent, and that was about 6 months ago.
Haven't seen any chat here about them (although I have not been paying attention so much lately).
Cheers
David

Hey mate,
I'm not sure about the Unimogs or anything. I have herd however that the GS army Landrovers which are being replaced soon by those Mercedes G series wagons should be getting auctioned off by the same people who do the government vehicle auctions. Its supposed to be happening pretty soon as in the next few months. Thats all I've herd.
If anyone else knows anything I'd love to hear it!
Cheers,
Goots
I heard that they were going back to Mercedes that or being scrapped because they don't meet civilian ADR!
This is one of the early ones:
That's what the experts keep telling us about the Perenties, so why not the Mogs?

Drool.
There were some already auctioned about 6 months ago, I often see one getting around Toowoomba and managed to talk to him the other day. He bought it at an auction where there were 28 of them go under the hammer. Hopefully they throw some more through. The auction company he went to was Fowles who do all the Government auctions I believe.
Hmmm - so they are out there!
Didn't happen to ask him what he paid by any chance?
Someone recently told me that, due to the issues with the G-Wagon, the Perentie fleet will be kept in service...
Just a word on the auctions, Manheim-Fowles do run most of the auctions, however Bandiana auctions are run in-house.
