I'm working arvo shift (3-11pm) today; but still made it to the service. Not much of a sacrifice compared to thousands of others...
Lest We Forget
Anyone attend their local Dawn Service?
The Dawn Service held at the Mildura Cenotaph was brilliant....I have never seen so many people there. The largest crowd by far.
It was wonderfull to see so many families there to pay their respects for those who served.
The "Gunfire" breakfast at the RSL was exceptional.
They catered for hundreds!
Very well done!

My dad and I went this morning to the service at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.
Was great to see so many people of all walks of life showing their respect, even with the rain. Standing there, always creates a unique and special feeling for me... Sorry hard to put the feeling into words.
Saw a few ex-army 110s on the way

I made my "first" dawn service this morning to pay my respects at the Cranbourne RSL. I comend you guys that can get there after/between shifts. I know I was certainly unable to do it.
I find as I get older the more important it is becoming to me. It was good to see many young faces there.
My only critisism was that despite there being a sound system there, they did'nt use it. Thus anyone who was further than 20' away, had no idea what was going on. It was still a moving service and very worth while going to.
I went to the service here at Ayers Rock hosted by the local Lions Club. Probably 300 + people, made up of residents and tourists. I was asked to deliver the Anzac poem, which I did gladly. Off to work after the service so was not able to attend the Lions breakfast unfortunately. All of the local Fire Brigade, Police and our service were in uniform.
Amazed me the number of people who turned out on a cool but beautifully clear morning.

Yep. Was there too. I've been going for a few years now.
My Grandfather fought in the First World War, 43 Infantry Battalion - 1 to 6 Reinforcements. I think he fought at Villers Bretonneux.
My Great Uncle was in the 43 Infantry Battalion - 1 to 6 Reinforcements as well. I think he was a driver. He didn't last long. Killed at 19. Buried in Ypres.
This was the first year I went to the "gunfire breakfast".
Sam, were you in the white 110 parked on the grassed traffic island in St Kilda Road?
There were that many people at the Sandgate service, the marchers , who march up from the beachfront, couldn't march into the Cenotaph, & had to fall out and independantly make their way in. No one complained. I've been marching at the Dawn Service for years, and it just gets bigger & bigger. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
similar stories here in Emerald, I could not believe the size of the crowd here, unfortunately I got called called into work, so couldnt enjoy the day proper.
It was great to see so many people turn up this morning to the service in Tom Price.
There were so many young families down there paying their respect with their children who were on their best behaviour.
Pity I can’t say the same for the cockies a flock of birds flew through while they were playing the last post.
Lovely morning.
