    Perth V8 Taxi Racing(lots of pics)

    Hi People.
    Yesterday I was a guest of WESTRAC at Barbagallo Raceway for the V8 Taxi Racing.I got a new CAT grader for Xmas,the sales rep arranged a couple of Westrac Corporate passes for us
    Was a LONG day,left Williams at 4AM,at the track just after 6.30AM,didnt get home until 9.30PM.
    The day was much better than I imagined,them V8s are MUCH faster and louder in real life than how they appear on the TV.

    SUPERTAXI TRANSPORTERS








    There are brand new pit facilities built infield,much safer for drivers/pit crews/marshalls,than the old facilities.It also allows the public to get VERY close to the action.

    Great pics Andrew.

    Will have to get myself down there one day now that I get to spend the occasional weekend in Perth.

    Do you ever get to the drags ? I can get pit passes there sometimes as one of the companies I have a lot to do with is Striker (John Zappia's Monaro).

    Havent for a couple of years.
    Kwinana Motorplex is an AWESOME VENUE.
    I highly reccomend that you go and see Zapps Rat in action,he is one of the fastest in Australia.

    They said Perth has the most Historic Touring Cars competing in the country.Wether they are cashed up miners or people with rocks in their heads I dont know,some very expensive cars there that can never be replaced if written off.MANY of them were road registered.They do go hard but give each other plenty of racing space.

    They might be irreplacable if they get badly crashed, but they arent worth much if they stay in the garage....

    Brian if you get tickets to the drags, go it is an awesome night. Especially if you can get up close & personal to Zapps Rat.
    Now if you want someone to go with I am sure you could twist either my arm or Andys.
    The supercars are an awesome day or two out too. Just a bugger I am on site atm or I would have taken Brock.

    Did I see a crashed car with Wood on the window??? Where you driving?
    As much as people denounce them, they are fantastic live. Much better perception and atmosphere.
    Looks like you had a good vantage spot too.
    But you still suck, cause you could go and I could not.

    When I worked for Telstra, we were not permitted to accept any corporate passes from any of our suppliers. In a way, that was an advantage when a supplier offered me tickets to a corporate box and function at the 2000 Olympics. I could gracefully refuse (I had absolutely no interest in going to watch a sporting event). It was OK for us to go to events on board their little ship.
