Forgive me, but I'm just not up to reading this whole thread. Though I think I've got the gist of it. My question is: for Landie nuts like me, if I come across something that may interest the REMLR crowd, should I just post it in the General section so that they can see it?

(Though I think I'll sign up for the new forum anyway. SIGH!)
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

i am constantly liaising with various levels of people at various clubs including the MJCQ where by the way there is at least one very major project we are working side by side on and have been for well over 18 months.

to be frank, the only people i have a problem with in the military vehicle club scene are what several clubs refer to as, TEAM S.O.Cs

this remlr kerfuffle has nothing to do with any one other than me personally, the owner of aulro, cliff

if you want to kick heads, by all means have a shot at mine if it makes you feel better.

not one person other than a remlr committee person bothered to contact me personally over the issue....

i have no idea what the peanuts are propagating, i haven't had any thing to do with the new forum other than advising mr green what software he would be better using.

no one knew the full story except myself and mr green to the best of my knowledge.

that said, i have advised some people on both sides of some details i thought were relevant to their tasks here and there.

if or when conditions, that i have advised mr green of, are met i will open up the remlr areas "read only" so the remlr forum can rebuild it self in it's new home but i imagine some wont want that to occur either. the decision is theirs.

i live by my principles, be they right or wrong, popular or despised and am prepared to take the hits that may bring.

in my opinion there needs to be change.

i truly hope this will bring about the changes that will enable remlr to move to the next level as i am an extremely strong believer in what remlr aspired to be.

i supported it here for 10+ years, only ever asking that the rules that are applied on aulro are also applied in relmr areas by the admins and moderators.

i do what ever is in my power to support land rover owners, no more, no less.

so please, if you want to continue to use aulro, you are most welcome cliff

but i will not tolerate some of what has gone on before.....

i am sorry if that offends.

    Inc,

In relation to this there are a number of bits ..
I did not email you to ask anything as:
    1) I assume you like the rest of us like to have some time to yourself

    2) I also assumed that you read the forum as you pop in and out of thread regularly therefore I would hope a post would have sufficed.

I want very much to remain on both forums and find it a pity that theyve seperated. (I too was one of the early MVCA members and enjoy the forum, more to read etc than to haunt as I do here )

Until there was no access to the remlr files, I was of the belief that the move was so remlr could spread it wings and relieve some of the pressure on aulro.

I do not know what has happened that has caused what appears to be bitterness (but as I really have no idea I could be reading it wrong, if so, sorry to both of you) between yourself and remlr and in some ways I really don't care or want to know, if its not my business it can stay out of the mix.

I do not mean to be rude about things as I am fully aware of how much you do to support almost anything to do with Land Rovers but if you have land rovers at heart I am at a loss to understand why you would prevent all of us (remember how far we are spread) who use/read/reference the remlr collection from using or accessing the files already done?

As I said this is not a swipe and I refuse to take sides (call me switzerland!) but I have no record or access to the information I have added over time as it was "safe" on the forum here. Maybe that was niave of me but these and 1 other are the only forums I use at all. For instance since 2006 I have been searching for a photo of my landy in vietnam, I was aware it existed but couldnt find it, it turned up recently and so I added it to the forum. Since doing that my laptop has died and I cant access the hard drive or the photo hosting site as to be honest I cant remember the password etc ..

All this is, I am acutely aware, not really any of your problem but as I sit here completely confused by this whole scenario it is what I am thinking... I was disappointed with the "peanuts" comment as I have always thought you ran the forum in a way that was above name calling, but as I said, I don't know what preceded this..

Basically I am just throwing in a plea for the opening of the remlr files.. I dont know what conditions need to be met but find it distressing you think they may not be met, the remlr files to date represent a lot of research and hard work gathering knowledge from people all over the place, (including as you know, yourself!) some of these sources are now gone (as in deceased) and their info is irreplaceable, and I feel shouldnt be held as a bargaining chip or tool..

In so many areas here you have set up spots to save info or collect info about certain land rover related topics and saved them dilligently so I find it distressing to hear there are conditions (whatever they are) on them being released... I feel as though my contributions have been stolen from me but now realise that as owner of the site they are probably your property as soon as they are entered and can see why that would be the case..

OK I've vented my plea and explained my distress at this whole scenario as I see it, If I am wrong in the way Ive read this (as I hope to God I am) then feel free to slot me back into my place...

lastly once again I want to be clear I'm switzerland here trying to be neutral and not take any sides, I only know whats on this thread (so lets be honest thats not much!) and as I said assumed this was a matter of a "child moving out with dads blessing" until these latest posts..

cheers, I hope that at least soon all this will settle down and we can at least have the two forums attend family functions without fighting.... (this line is a poor attempt at humour... but I mean it)

if a PM is preferred by either of you guys for any answer - feel free or in turn if you so desire I would understand a "butt out" message from either party..

    spleen vented...

    thanks for that digger

i am not responsible for the apparent lack of communication between mr green, the remlr committee and its members.

although after months of trying to get my point across, i can somewhat understand your frustration.

no bitterness involved at all towards mr green i would buy him a beer tomorrow but as i said earlier .....

in my opinion there needs to be change.

there are too many fence sitters.

i gave an under taking, i am doing my best to stick to it, in the hope this can be sorted sooner rather than later.

but i will say i did what i did because i want remlr to continue.

    WHY WAS REMLR INCORPORATED

I will never understand why REMLR was incorporated and only in NSW if its a requirement for legal purposes why dont we need it in the other states?. It was never a club does not own any property or real estate, has very little income all, any get to gathers that I know of are social events at a persons home or public place I may not be as well educated as some, but am I missing something.

    which begs the question...

why are you asking this here cliff?

i would have thought the remlr site would have been a much more appropriate place to be asking questions about remlr....

remlr.com owns a lot of donated material cliff.

if my memory serves me correctly the original intent was that only the committee of remlr be incorporated to protect mr green, the management committee, the property and monies donated to remlr.com

when this changed to full incorporation i resigned from the committee because i didn't support the idea.

so can tell you no more about it cliff than that, sorry.

Any chance of you princesses getting over this? Not the campfire talk most of us want to hear. Air your dirty linen somewhere else, please. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Dave,
In no way do I mean to insult you or infer anything at all, if thats how it comes across I am sorry. The bitterness comment wasnt directed at you or anyone but my way of reffering to the situation as it appears.

I am just stuck in the middle and confused here like many others.
These last posts seem to indicate concerns on your behalf and hopefully they are being addressed in some form. Obviously the forum/s isnt/arent the place to air any 'dirty laundry' or vent etc so I shall stop here now.

As I have said before we are a long way away from the 'action' here and just hope it is all resolved and all these forums can again line up side by side without any problems.

    Cheers

Where's the stuff? Remlr info gone

So. I havent worked out why... But it seems Remlr members or leadership have taken their bat and ball and gone home. OK.
Where is all the info that'll was here gone? It's not on the the new site....
It does all seem a great pity.

I would have thought "evicted" would be more accurate.

It's not gone, It's still on AULRO. It's restricted.

Yes, a great pity. There are many military vehicle enthusiasts not associated with any forum who recognised the REMLR section on AULRO to be a very valuable resource.
Send a PM off to the AULRO owner and ask that he reinstate the REMLR sections as a read only resource.
