Dont buy one of those ones with the spring base. I have had 3 now and they snap off before the spring moves!
Some numb-nut used all his brain power and managed to exceed his ability by breaking of my radio aerial for the car radio (not cb radio).
Where can i find them old fashioned one piece aerials or is there something better you could recommend?
Thanks

Nooooooo.... really???? I just bought one last week..
Oh and when I bought the one with the spring base they had others - as in normal straight ones there too - at Supercheap... only about $25 and less..
My aerial got hooked up on some Lantana - have I ever mentioned how much I hate that stuff? So I thought I would replace it with the spring one because I presumed it had more flex than a straight (or in my case now a bent) one..
They tend to snap off in off road situations. Low branches and such, driving quick on forestry roads.
I've got a ordinary old two section one on a spring base and it's never broken, but it's not very good either. It's on my list of things to improve, and I'll do it with one from mobile one. mix and match aerials and bases.

Can't you fit a conventional electric aerial?

Does the shorter ones work as good as the long ones.... One the edge here...? Longer is better isn't it?
To some extent, for AM, yes as freq is low. Higher Freqs like that used for FM 750 mm is approx 1/4 wave length an would be closer to a match.
Spring base works for slower speed stuff, at higher speeds the initial strike will do the damage with no time for the spring base to act.
