    Transit of Venus

    Hey everyone,
there is going to be another fairly rare event in the heavens in the coming week.

The transit of Venus, i.e. Venus will travel between the earth and the sun.

Wed 6th June starting around 8:15 a.m. in Eastern Aust. Transits of Venus occur

every 243 years, with pairs of transits 8 years apart. It can be viewed safely in a

webs cast. Go to http://www.transitofvenus.com.au/HOME.html for more info.

Thanks for that, we will certainly never see one of these again in our lifetimes. Could this finally be the dawning of the age of Aquarius, which I have been waiting for since the 70's? Must get the paisley shirt from the bottom of the budgie cage, drag out the Janis Joplin records, and enjoy the moment. Bob [how did that song go? oh yeah " one, two three, what are we fighting for? don't know, don't give a damn, next stop vietnam.... memories]
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Don't miss the last transit of venus for 105 years.

The transit of Venus across the Sun, is one of the rarest cosmological events you'll ever see. In early June, Venus will pass between the Earth and the Sun for the last time for more than 105 years. The next transit will not happen until 2117.

The transit will begin at 22:09 UTC (5 June 2012) and finish at 04:49 UTC (6 June 2012). Your guide to the transit of Venus › Science Features (ABC Science)
    Australian Time Zones
Starts: Wednesday, 6 June 2012 at 8:09:00 AM EST or 6:09:00 AM WST
Ends:Wednesday, 6 June 2012 at Wednesday, 2:50:00 PM EST or 12:49:00 AM WST.

See I spend a day or so pretty much away from AULRO and people keep posting up in my absence!

Can't they wait until I'm back?
