    M R Automotive Recovery points?

    G'day all.
About to invest in some front recovery points for the D2, and i've been pointed to M R Automotive up in brisbane.
Heard from them that they have plenty, and at $66 a pair it seems pretty good.
Anybody had any experience with this recovery points? any issues with them?
    Cheers

Better off with the hook type for bolting to chassis, don't need a shackle, much safer that 2 bits of plate with horizontal eyes for the shackles, they dont allow the shackle to align itself with the line of pull. Swivel eye bolts are best but you have issues with mounting on air-bag compatible b/bars, regards frank.

    Thanks Frank.
I'd looked into the swivel points but couldn't see any manufacturers who were still around, and i'm putting an ARB winch bar on so airbag's could be an issue.
Would it be possible to tool the standard recovery points a bit, so that the shackles had more room to move and line up with the pull?
    Cheers

If the holes were much larger it would allow the shackles to swivel sideways a bit more instead of jambing on the shackle pin, as long as there is still enough meat around the hole, regards Frank.

With regard to this also. When you use these in combination with a bridle strap. (which you should do). Use a long bridle strap, this means that the angle created by the strap is as acute as possible - which in turn creates less twisting of the shackle in the recovery point and transfers less load to each point. Hope this makes sense!

In laymans terms. If you have attatched each end of the bridle to the recovery points and are standing in front of the car looking at it holding the bridle in the center. Than you have a V shape. You want a skinny V rather than a wide V.

I just helped my dad fit some to his D2 today. He still has the standard bumper and was told they would work with that, just have to cut some slots in bumper.
They don't work with the standard bumper.
They dont come out far enough and if they did it would be in a spot on the bumper that you wouldn't want to cut as it would weaken it too much.
In saying all that they would work well with a bull bar, and are a well made item at a good price.
Dad is just going to remove the bumper for any 4wd trips (20 min job)

I am looking for some recovery points for the front of my D2 as the Update ARB bar does not have them. I have a hook but can't find anywhere to mount it.

I just looked that the MR Autos web site but can't find them. Does anyone have a picture of them. Do they mount to the same bolt holes as the bull bar. If you have a picture of one fitted it would be great.
    Cheers, David.

Can mount a hook (or 2) either on side of front of chassis or bottom, side is best as it gives better clearance, Regards Frank.

The recovery points from Mr Auto., mount on the chassis using the same bolts as the ARB bar. You will probably need to buy longer HT bolts to fit both bar & points together. The recovery points stick out under the front of the bar. $ 66 a pair. Bob

I emailed them about them, and have just asked for some photos and a description of them.
