Mate if its another 130 or 110 or even 90 PHEW MA you may be interested in,ASK for a member in your area for a private test drive.Best way to find out the good and bad is from one of us mob.Im sure you wont have any issues getting a test drive

Sounds like you need a Defender , just spend what you would on a Jeep to make it follow the Defender on seats, sound deadening and a new clutch counterweight spring thingo, also a tube of sikaflex

Thing is I am over working on cars, I am a mechanic in the Army so see a few landy's lol

Having been in your 130,I can only wish to have a Defender that was that quiet
I think if you want a hop in and drive every day vehicle,then the Jeep will be very similar to a Land Rover,they are both very idiosyncratic.
Hop in drive and forget,you can't go past the Japanese,but finding one that will give you as much pleasure as driving a Defender is another thing.

Yeah cheers Wayne, I did test a new Wrangler and it was a lot quieter than my defender. But as you aluded to driving a defender is better.

The other car makes have other issues I don't want to deal with but are better in areas that I don't like about the defender.

I think it may be a case of harden up princess lol

Geez, you guys crack me up sometimes. I'm 45 and have never owned a decent car that didn't need a rebuild and didn't give me something to worry about, and my God would I love to have a 130 of some sort with a super-duper modern engine, (assuming I could afford to fix it, as money has always been a worry and I just can't imagine having the luxury of being able to own something like a TD5).

Maybe you should park it for a few months, buy, er, a Series II or a Toyota, and see just how much you appreciate your 130 when you get back into it! I mean, a 130, what else out there can compare to that???

Apparently there is a new cruiser ute dual cab coming out soon-ish, the motor in that is enough to make me have a look haha, but i've heard of a lot of rollovers due to the narrower back axle and higher top speed with the tdv8, a defender would be nicer to drive but if you want grunt and dependability, i hate to say it but the cruiser ticks a lot of boxes, mind you if defender had a better engine and some ergonomics to match this decade it would win hands down any day, they are all a compromise.

you obviously havent been around my local toyota dealers yard lately

the last few weekends we have had a couple parked up out the front with flags and just about anything else that grabs your attention with the words "LEMONS" featuring quite distinctively..

brought a tear to my eye....
