    Made up fact, but a riddle nevertheless....Which modern day saying is a derivation of an old Eskimo saying that was an admonition against building a fire in a boat while out hunting whales, seals, etc?

    That's correct. I think it means you can't eat your cake and keep it. Similarly you can't be in a kayak and heat at the same time, you can only have one or the other.
