The cheap Airlines in the UK (Ryanair for one) charge a card fee for each ticket even though you are only making one payment. There was also another one that added a seat fee to each booking.

The wife and I flew to Canberra from Brisbane on Tuesday moning to pick up a gassed V8 Disco 1 for our daughter,767 to Sydney and then Dash 8 to Canberra,we were fed on both flights and it only cost $354 the lot.
The trip back in the D1 was good, nice vehicle,we just picked the wrong road,New England Hwy, should have gone Pacific Hwy
. it handles well in the wet.
cheers
Don't book using Webjet either, they add $30 to the fare
All in all, cheaper fares have helped not hindered our mobility.
I always ask myself though:
Why do we think it's normal and ok to commute for 60-120 min on an overcrowded train, without a seat or meals or air con, or sit on greyhound for 6-8 hours without entertainment or food, yet we expect airlines to feed us, put on entertainment and such.
I always apply that test, flying Bris toSyd for example is an equiv journey to say gold coast to Bris and I wouldn't expect food nor entertainment for that.
These days, short frquent air journeys should be viewed as 'sky bus' routes IMHO.

Exactly my feelings. I am 6'1" and 110 kilos but can put up with airline seats for 90 minutes from Brisbane to Sydney. Long haul I am prepared to pay more for more room. There used to be an airline that ran NYC-Detroit-Chicago on the basis of no bookings, no time table, plane took off when it was full. No meals or other in-flight services. Just like catching the bus. Sept. 2011 and the manic "security" now in US airports ended this very popular service.
