And complaining they are freezing cold, instead of the too hot winging that has been going on for the last 3 months[biggrin]

That olde one.[bigrolf]
I always found Offices were the hardest to satisfy every occupant. Too many desks & people & all wanted their own comfort zone from a central system on demand, especially Women at certain times of the month. Too hot, too cold, Too draughty, Too not enough draft (circulation) etc etc etc. Sometimes you even found the Initial Contractor hadn't even fitted Manual Balancing Dampers.
Sometimes the person sitting adjacent to the RA took control of the thermostat & buggered everything up.
Sometimes they were proper Nazis with it.
You eventually get it about right & then they leave the job & some new **** wants their preferences.. [bigsad][bighmmm]
Ah Happy Days.
Hi,
Moved into a new office building in 71.
Aircon!
Amazing!
BUT always a bit chilly.
Many requests for a better temp seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Eventually the troops started tweaking the thermostats.
We got even colder.
Turned it to Max, anything to get warm.
Meanwhile.
In alternative universe, next floor down it was too hot.
They too had become tired of the temp, albeit too hot.
Comparing notes, we decided an experiment was in order to shake the tree and see what fruit would fall.
We turned ours down, they turned theirs up.
Bingo!
Thermostats controlling the wrong floors.
The problem and solution thus presented to management resulted in the appropriate maintenance and happy troops on all floors.
Cheers
Seen it a hundred times, cables crossed over, wrong sensors, controlling wrong units,VAV's,or re heats, wrong pilot solenoids, wiring for zones crossed over, pressure switches cutting out the wrong compressers.
Pipes crossed over feeding wrong coils, chilled water going the wrong way, through chillers and coils, fan blades on the wrong way,or the motor going the wrong way, dual fan decks with one fan wheel on backwards, and on it goes...
You would be surprised how many systems operate incorrectly for years, until a fault, sometimes completely unrelated appears, and a tech then starts to look closely at the system.
We once came across a system some other clowns had piped up,wrong liquid line going to wrong evaporator. Two compressers, separate systems in one AC unit.
It all worked fine unitil one compresser failed.
Luckily it didnt have a two stage thermostat.
Many moons ago,i remember working on a huge yacht "Condor of Bermuda".They had just had the refrigeration system "refurbished" in NZ before leaving for Aus,and it had not worked properly since.
I found not only was one system full of R12,when it should of been R502,the other system had two out of six TX valves fitted in backwards[bighmmm]
Often there are two people sitting next to each other, in an office, one complaing they are cold, the other hot.[bighmmm]
We often tell them, yes, turned it up half a degree,or down half a degree,do nothing, and then next day they say its a lot better[biggrin]
Works (almost) every time[thumbsupbig]
Jesus Paul you do get all the good jobs. Not.
You rectify any problems with Design & operation & you get back to the workshop & get a message that the thing ain't working properly, or as it used to.
Times like that you wish you could recall what you did to "fix" it? Then offer to go back & do it & put it back to Square one. For a fee of course old boy.[bigrolf]
As it used to be said by someone, "You & Paul (I'll use your name because that is what it is) are too smart for this world you should grease your arse & slide to the next one". Huh?:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling::Rolling::Thump:
Not sure, but I reckon the Golgafrinchians might have loaded you lot onto Ark Flight ship B..... Me too, of course.
Had an office where the HR people (there were 3 of them yet within 2 years there were 12 - part rabbit I think) who had the corner between the meeting rooms as they said needed need privacy from the rest of the open plan office due to the issues they needed to work on
Now this office due to the way the building was positioned no one else wanted that part of the floor as they knew full well what it would be like in winter. Sure enough they are complaining it is too cold and the air conditioning needed fixing. My people on the rest of the floor thought it was just about right. You can see a divide opening up here. Well the techs are brought in to fix the system. They determine it is operating as best can be expected but made some adjustments
Well this of course does not solve the problem we still have differing opinions about the temperature. One day for some reason it is were very cold in the building. Seems a way to adjust the temperature has been found by someone. Then it is very hot as someone else has changed the temperature
Now my team were not people to take this and staged a protest. If the temperature was turned up again they were going topless as it was so hot and they did not feel they could work otherwise. 20 People who are aged 20 to 60 and 90% female. Knowing them this was no idle threat. Company directors have offices on the floor as well. HR were now scurrying around trying to figure out what this meant re contracts and HR rules
Finally ended the battle when gained control of the room where they were changing the temperature from
