What a great race, and full credit to Whincup/dumbrell.

I think the "Change ya undie's" award goes to Davidson for his spin out at fiull noise.

I take my hat off to the 2nd place guy's that was some smicko driving.

And ol mate got his 15 sec's of sponsership fame when the Tenko car stopped mid track, so his sponser $$$ got some prime time coverage

    Cheers Ean

Was a great race indeed Ean.
How unlucky was David Reynolds/Dean Canto they ALMOST won,for their first podium finish in V8 Supecars,1 more lap and Wincup would have been pushing the car home.David is a great bloke, met him in the Westrac corporate tent at Barbagallo.
Davison must have ran a chinaman over in the top 10 shootout,it just didnt happen for him today, how he didnt manage to smash that car at 300kmh with no brakes was amazing.
Was a great race, them 888 mob run a tight ship, really enjoyed the close finish.
Nice to see the retro colour schemes,if my lotto comes good I will buy a white GT and get them decals made.

How's the reliability of the cars these days, the first 5 cars so close and only needed a driver error and the race would have been won by up to 6 different cars.

Full credit to the mechanics and teams that can keep cars running at full noise for 1000ks.

    Cheers Ean

And you can't forget that drive of Lowndes,as he did last year as well.

Can't wait for next years series to start, should be VERY interesting.I recon there will be a few parity issues.

To be fair, the closeness has more to do with the safety car interventions than anything else

    Agreed

Obviously Car of the Future has some different rules re engines, (please enlighten me) as under the current regs only pushrod V8's are eligible. Both the Nissan and Merc entries next year will run quad cam V8's

Big question, will Toyota consider entering after their previous bids?

    Numpty.
The Kelly Bros had a story on V8 Extra a few weeks back on their new Nissans.
They have to be 5lt,the motor is actually a 5.6l so it has to be lowered in capacity. They have to be tuned to provide similar power/torque curves with the same power and 7500rpm as the current V8s.

Ford have a 5lt twin OHC in their road going Falcons,I wonder if they will now be able to use them???
Holden have none in the GM stable, they COULD buy a Ford engine if they couldnt bare using a Nissan/Mercedes modern engine

Yes Andrew, I was aware of the engine size reduction. The Merc is actually using, I think, a 6 litre reduced to 5 for the same reason.

My query was more on pushrod versus OHC in relation to the current regs.
